Eric Siu

Violin

Eric Siu began violin studies at age 6 in his native Hong Kong. Following studies at Wells Cathedral School (UK), he earned degrees at the Juilliard School and the Mannes College of Music where he studied with Sally Thomas. In 2012, he graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rice University where he studied with Kathleen Winkler. Eric’s performances have been heard on KUHF Houston Public Radio and Texas Public Radio KPAC. Recent solo performances include Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Texas Lutheran University Orchestra and Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending with Symphony Viva. He has presented a recital of the complete violin sonatas of Eugene Ysaÿe and a lecture-recital on Bartók’s Sonata for Solo Violin. As a chamber musician, Eric has performed at the Three Cities Chamber Music Marathon at the Kennedy Center and at the Cali de Camara festival in Colombia. He also performs regularly with the Ritter Piano Trio, a collaboration which began at Rice University as a student ensemble. Eric joined the San Antonio Symphony, now Philharmonic, in 2013 and has performed with the Houston Symphony and the Hong Kong Philharmonic as a substitute musician. He has attended the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove and the Pacific Music Festival, where he was concertmaster for two years. An avid pedagogue, Eric has served as Assistant Professor of Violin at Texas Lutheran University since 2014. He earned his Suzuki Teaching Certification at the School for Strings in New York and served as Sally Thomas’s teaching assistant at the Meadowmount School of Music for five years. He has taught masterclasses at the Antonio Maria Valencia conservatory in Colombia.

Julie Post

Violin

Julie Post holds degrees in violin performance and English literature from the University of Maryland, and a performer’s diploma from École Normale de Musique in Paris. Her principal teachers include James Stern, Antoine Goulard, and Gerald Fischbach. She has performed extensively as an orchestral musician, playing in the U.S. with the San Antonio Symphony, Mid-Texas Symphony, and Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio; in France with the Paris métro orchestra; and in New Zealand with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, and the chamber orchestra, Bach Musica. In addition to playing for weddings and other events, Julie has performed with various touring artists, including Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé, and Broadway Across America.
Julie has spent two summers as a faculty member and performer at Point Counterpoint, a chamber music festival in Vermont, and has held administrative roles with the Cactus Pear Music Festival (San Antonio), and Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival (New Hampshire). In addition to her private studio, in 2011 Julie founded the Middle School Strings program at Saint Mary’s Hall where she taught private lessons and directed the chamber ensemble for ten years. She has also held various positions with the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, including as a private teacher for select scholarship students and as a violin sectional coach.

Beverly Bias

Viola

Beverly Bias has played professionally as an orchestral musician and a chamber musician across the United States, including Tennessee, Georgia, California, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. As a dedicated teacher, Beverly has served as Professor of Viola at the University of Tennessee, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, the University of New Mexico, and University of the Incarnate Word. Beverly currently resides in San Antonio performing with San Antonio Philharmonic. Beverly earned her BM from Rice University, and her MM from Indiana University.

Qizhen Liu

Cello

Cellist Qizhen Liu has performed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. Qizhen is a prizewinner in the 2015 Kansas City Music Club Competition, 2014 MTNA Young Artist String Solo Competition, 2014 Sigma Alpha Lota Competition, 2012 Sorantin International String Competition, and Internationaler Jugendmusikwettbewerb in Ehigen, Germany. She has appeared in Fontainebleau Music Festival (France), Zephyr Chamber Music Festival (Italy), Schleswig Holstein Music Festival (Germany), Morningside Bridge Music Festival (Canada), Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, and Sarasota Music Festival in USA. Qizhen is the principal cellist of Symphony of the Hills and member of the San Antonio Philharmonic. In addition to her performing, Qizhen currently teaches at University of Incarnate Word. She has also taught as adjunct instructor of cello at Ottawa University, as faculty member at Morse Music Academy at Yale School of Music, as teaching assistant at Casalsmaggorie Music Festival in Italy, as teaching artist at Music Bridge Program at University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and Aspen Music Festival P.A.L.S. Summer Education Department. Qizhen Liu holds a BM in Cello Performance and BA in German Studies at Bard College. She earned a graduate degree of music from Yale School of Music and a Doctorate of Music Arts from University of Missouri, Kansas City.
